digital multi effects vs analog preamp

I want to know which will give me better tones, versatility, etc.

I have narrowed it down to

line 6 pod x3 (bean version)

or

hughes & kettner tubeman.

I will use it with my computer and/or headphones.

I want to play tones such as neil zaza, yngwie malmsteen, joe satriani, vinnie moore, etc.

Please help me make the better buy.

Just try them and decide yourself. It's a matter of personal taste. I for once like the Line 6 tone, but another guy may like the H&K, each one of us for his own reasons. Trust your ears!

Re: digital multi effects vs analog preamp

I played the tube factor and almost bought one, and was amazed by the sound of it, even through a solid state amp. I'd imagine the Tube Man as long as it can interface with a computer or headphones well would sound fantastic. The Hughes and Kettner site mentions that it's for direct hookups to mixing consoles.
