Re: Do you Boost?

For years I've wrestled with this topic. MXR Distortions in my youth, Boss overdrives or Blues gain type pedals, Seymore Duncan Boost, Aural exciter pedals etc.....

THEN I discovered the Keeley Katana.

OMG.

I've never had a pedal that helps my sound like this before. A side volume knob sets the level and it's clean up to about 7. Then it breaks up like an old plexi to 10 and if you pull out the knob it gets a little dirtier.
But I can't even explain how it helps both clean and saturated guitar tones. For your clean sounds, this pedal will make your note sustain till the cows come home -CLEAN! and the body/fullness/tonal spectrum is amazing.
It's like all the harmonics are smooth and bell-like...on every note and chord. I never turn it off- it's now part of my sound. Yes, it costs more than other pedals. I've known about them forever too - it's like a well-kept secret and I really didn't want to spend the money.... just go try one (if you can find one).
Also, it's cool that each one is hand made and has it's own serial number!

Look, other than Marshall amps( who promote me), I do not promote products because everyone has different tastes - -but I'll make an exception for this device. TRY IT!

Re: Do you Boost?

I use a Keeley TS9DX Flexi mod. Very little gain and the level turned to the max, all on the first setting. Works great for a boost.

Re: Do you Boost?

Wow...expensive tastes here!

I usually just kick in my un-modded DS1 or TS9. My mesa generally doesn't need much more gain...usually just a bit more volume from rhythm playing to solos.

Re: Do you Boost?

Use a bit of delay, I'm not a fan of overdrives. Never found one I like.
