Don't know that I've ever posted my rig

Don't know that you'd really care either, but, I figured I might as well

The Jet city isn't really mine, a friend of mine basically lets me play with it though. I'm a college student, so money's kinda tight...but I want to get a decent amp soon. Although I'm very wishy washy lol. one day i'm at an Egnater Renegade, another JSX, another I just want to save right up for a MKV :P

By the way, most of the pedals are actually screwed (bolted) to the pedal board through the original screw holes on the back....my dad and I built the board. Nothing special..but fun. SO, to possibly redeem this thread, what amp do you think I should go for? I don't know that I can't wait until I get enough dough for a MK V...i'm itchin' to buy something!

Re: Don't know that I've ever posted my rig

It's ok. I guess for its price it's really hard to hate...but I find that it's gain structure is much more Marshall-y than the Xotic BB Pre (more like a Vox, which I prefer). And I actually think it needs quite a bit more bass. The Mesa 2x12 oversized recto cab is known for its boomy bass, and the JCA doesn't really push it. Maybe it just needs some better tubes.

All in all, if you're low on cash and want a cool little single channel amp, it's a pretty good buy.

I like the JSX and I'm sure you could get one on the cheap on clearance or used. If you're into Vox-like tones, why not get a Vox.
You might also want to take a look at the Transatlantics from Mesa.
Mark V is awesome, but pricey and I don't know how much you play out, but it would be hard for me to justify the expense if I wasn't actively gigging. Could also see about a Mark IV used to lower some of the costs.

Get what makes you happy and if you're going to spend that kind of money, play and demo the crap out of everything while you're saving up so that you know exactly what you want when you're ready and able to buy.

Always low on cash.

Selling all my gear prior to a move to Australia in Sept and I will have to replace stuff once I get there.

TBH I am completely in love with Soldanos. I don't think anything else is ever going to satisfy that need. I just thought the Jet City might be close enough.

That JC won't push that cab really hard anyway unless you have some real high efficiency drivers in there, MESA is usually a high powered cab.

Go try out a bunch of amps--in fact, try all available. Get the one that sounds best to you and fits in your budget.

Re: Don't know that I've ever posted my rig

One thing I've noticed over the years.
Any Head or amp on the clean channel, is the best test of its tone range.
If you can get the amount of Bass, Mid, Treble you want, then the amp will give it to you when you add a good distortion pedal or rack effect in front of it.
Some distortion pedals or units will suck the life out of you guitar before it even gets to the amp.
So watch out.
