Drum Tracks

I'm looking for real-sounding drum samples (Fruity Loops has some nice ones, but none that quite fit what I'm looking for, and not enough cymbals), as well as better software for creating tracks of drums (Fruity Loops is great, except I can't figure out how to do 3/4 or 6/8 or anything other than 2/4 or 4/4). Anyone have any ideas?

i know this is really obvious, but have you tried just doing triplets in 2/4

I'm not sure if it has a triplet option.

To be honest, I hate Fruity Loops cuz it doesn't let me do fast enough parts without having to double the tempo, and then splice all my bars in half. It also doesn't let me create anything even remotely natural sounding.

well... you probably have two choices then.

score them completely in midi. (then use nskit6 to record each piece of kit indivually when full score is done)

or

download drum samples and change your piece to fit the tempos of the ones you like. (site like www.e-drummer.net abound with free drum samples)

Compressed or expanded drum loops sound worse than midi in my opinion

Best of luck

Two hands!

Get yourself a basic sequencer, that will let you program whatever drum parts as complex as you like.

I'm a big fan of Cubase myself, and they offer a really cheap introduction program called Cubasis, has VST support of course so you can use the virtual drum machine to trigger realistic sound samples. Of course you can record your guitar and anything else you like with this kind of thing as well.

Check out this that was created totally using the above method http://www.dbeebee.btinternet.co.uk/...ong_Demo_2.mp3

This used a virtual drum machine and samples from wizoosounds.com

Have you thought about "Drum Kit From Hell"? Those samples are pretty good.
When I got Fruity Loops 3 years ago they sent me a sample cd too that has something like 3000 more samples on it. tons of 'real' drum kits.
With a little work you can get Fruity Loops to do the odd time sigs. You wont be able to recycle loops. Basically the song itself is one giant loop.

Wow, I'm already using the bundled version of Cubasis VST that came with my Tascam US-122, I'll have to look into that, and thanks for the links to samples, I'll take a look at 'em.
