Edge design fault & Kramer

In the untold story Ibanez book, it mentions that there was a design flaw with the nut with Ibanez's Edge interpretation of the OFR, and that Kramer didn't want Ibanez to find out, but Mr Floyd Rose pointed it out to Ibanez.

Anyone know more details about what the problem was?

what's with the B-string?
and the pink lines on the headstock?
or are the hex sizes in standard?
maybe the huge gaps between the locking nuts?

Re: Edge design fault & Kramer

Was it just really as simple as tightening the locks the wrong way around? I saw it too, but I thought it must have been something more than that.

Cool, thanks for the answer!

I too, was looking at the b string thinking something was causing that, but the rest of the pictures just show its just a normal broken string.

Re: Edge design fault & Kramer

The pads were cast with the curve on the bottom in the wrong direction.

Re: Edge design fault & Kramer

so the curve under the bottom of the pad should be in line with the strings right? and not perpendicular.

Re: Edge design fault & Kramer

The curve mates to the nut base. I should have said they cast them with the ^^^ tops in the wrong direction.

Re: Edge design fault & Kramer

I wonder if there is any difference in the distribution of pressure based on the bevel orientation?

I doubt it matters much (if at all), but an observation nonetheless.

Re: Edge design fault & Kramer

The bevel is there so that it can be higher on one side, ie. straddle the low E and A strings. If you've even tightened one of these early pads, the bolt is only biting on the high side, and it squeaks and grinds.
