ENGL Invader Midi + Line 6 POD XT live
Recently I wanted to control my ENGL Invader 100 head via midi through my line 6 pod xt live. Actually bothered reading the manual and worked out through a bit of logic that it was likely the ENGL would be responding to channels 1A, 1B and upwards etc. It worked fine, the ENGL head clicked over to different channels when using the lower banks that it "understood".
This was a real result because I could then eliminate the Z9 footswitch I was having to use and use change on one board with all my effects in one place.
The problem came when I took the ENGL out of standby, the noise was disturbing to say the least. Basically it just pushes out this disgusting grinding electronic noise whenever the midi cable is connected from the POD to the amp head. Pull the cable out, no problems. Plug the cable into the Z9, no problems. So it's definitely something the POD is doing, although I'm struggling to understand how a midi connection could cause interference that would generate a horrific almost feedback style rumble through the amp head.
Anyone else played around with this combination?
