G-system pedal loop low

when I connect my drive pedal to the g-system loop it takes distortion away rather than add distortion. I check all my connections and parameter...How do I fix it and use it properly?

I am using the standard text book connection to a stack.

the pedal I have tried using is a Boss ds-1

Re: G-system pedal loop low

When you step on the physical pedal to turn it off (not the g-sys buttons) what happens?

Re: G-system pedal loop low

Nothing, if the g-system loop 1 is on, then it reduces the sound even more by turning the pedal off.

Re: G-system pedal loop low

So if I am hearing this correctly:

G-Sys without the loop on:
-Distortion

G-Sys with the loop on with a turned on distortion pedal:
-Less distortion

G-Sys with the loop on with a turned off distortion pedal:
-Even less distortion
-- But not "clean"? Meaning you are still getting distortion from your amp, or is it clean at that point?

Re: G-system pedal loop low

As per my post on vai.com, I think the insert loop is off in the patch. If you aren't getting the amp's distortion using the 4 cable method, your insert loop is off.

search this gear page thread for the term "insert":

Re: G-system pedal loop low

There there is a loop level and a loop headroom setting. You could try messing with those. I would guess to turn up the loop you would raise the level and lower the headroom.

Re: G-system pedal loop low

I had similar problems, did you check your signal routing and modify the parallel and serial configs?
Ultimately I ended up sending mine back after about 3 weeks. The place I bought it from had a 30 day money back policy.
The thing that gets me is Vai uses one live, and I'm sure he has Thomas Nordegg just sit and perfect the thing. Meanwhile, you 're thinking, ahh, Vai's using it, I should be able to handle it.... Pfffft

The concept behind it is great, but sadly, it doesn't work for everyone in all situations.

Re: G-system pedal loop low

Vai apparently uses in 2 cable method in which case IT'S really easy to use.
