Good DiMarzio Pick up combo

I'm considering getting a DiMarzio Evo for the bridge position for ym Jackson but what should I get as a Neck p/up.

I'm looking for something that can give me a very heavy sound and would be good for playing rhythm metal and punk through.

Andy!

Another Evo or an Air Norton

I wouldn't recommend an Evo for metal.....try a Tone Zone or a Steve's Special. Air Norton would be a good choice for the neck.

Not DiMarzio, but anyway: Duncan Custom Custom & Jazz neck.

Dimarzio X2N & Air Norton.

And shouldn't this be in the Pickups & Wiring -section?

I have to agree about the Evo and Metal; if you want a metal pickup EMGs are very popular, and I hear the Duncan Invader is all right. If you are sticking with the Evo, I think the FRED is a good match in the neck position.

Um, shouldn't this be in the Pickups forum...?

The evo isn't bad- sure, it's more mid-heavy than your typical metal pickup, but a mid-heavy pickup with the mids scooped at the amp seems to give a thicker distortion than a scooped pickup would, i think... Unless the EQ section is pre-gain, it'll still give you a heavily distorted midrange, while still being scooped- all the frequencies will be driven hard. So don't immediately rule it out...

i use an evo and the first thing that strikes u is it doesnt chug as much as the x2n does but as you start to play lead it screams like a biatch, and then the mids come through to your ears, the best part is live at a jam situation, you cut through everything and you're always heard
