Got any advice on how to not get pitting on an Edge

Just bought a Lo-pro 7 trem, and wondered if there was any way to avoid pitting on the trem from casual playing. The trem is cosmo black. Anyone have any advice on this subject? I have searched, but came up with no answer.
Thanks

Wiping it down after every use will help, but really some degree of wear is inevitable. Just remember, these things were built to be played, not looked at, so who cares if it pits a little?

Take the saddles off and wrap the fine tuners in some tape, then spray the bridge and the individual saddles (screws out of them and little blocks out to) with some poly. Let dry, put all back together.

Another: don't take it apart and just paint some clear nail polish on the parts where wear typically happens.

Point is, you have to get a protective covering over the areas to keep them from contacting your sweat and oil.

thanks for responding! I was thinking of a light coat of enamel. I have a gold trem lying around that I can experiment on.

Another option:

Get a hobby buying and then parting out ibanez guitars with similar hardware and you can cherry pick the best of the best as it comes through your hands.

Re: Got any advice on how to not get pitting on an Edge

I think it depends on the color. I have two chrome and though I wipe them down every time I finish, they have not pitted at all. On the other hand, Cosmo Chrome seems to be the worst. I have two of those and one came pre-pitted so I can't judge that one. The 2nd was mint and I have religiously wiped it every time I finish, and though it still looks good, a few pits have started.

The poly/enamel coating is a good idea. Lately I have been putting a piece of clear shipping tape across the bridge when I play (mostly to protect the saddles) because I sweat profusely.
