Graphic EQ's

I know what EQ's do, but what are they like in conjunction with an amp with it's own EQ, the guitar tone controlls, EQ's on effects etc etc?

I like the idea of them but I'm not sure whether to get one if/when I get myself a valve amp...or even now to go with my Flextone III

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Graphic EQ's

you can change your tone more accuratly, usually a 7 band EQ is a good place to start (like 32 band EQ for teh pros)

Re: Graphic EQ's

Im getting a 31 band because Im a freak about such things. Its best set it through your effects loop for maximum usage. Then you can shape the overall tone and not just the beginning. If the amp lacks something like bass, midrange or treble or has too much of either, you just up and down it where ever it needs it. You can find a good one for 200 or so.
