Re: Which Guitar Is Better

I'd go for the Dimebag Razorback just because Dimebag is amazing!

Okay but seriously, i found the Jackson Randy Rhoads that one guy has at my college to be a bit overly trebly. He has SeymourDuncans in it so i don't know about how the one you're thinking about will sound (depending on it's pickups)

I played a Dean Dime not too long ago and thought it was very nice to play. Some things i didn't really like about it was the pickup switch's position (but i guess i could get used to it) and playing sitting down with it (Razorback is gonna hurt sitting down...)
Things i loved about the Dean was it's neck (it's a V shape which is a change from the usual thin U's i play on my Ibanez's and hotrodded Strats. It's nice to play standing up and it doesn't fatigue the playing arm) and it's sound. The mahogany and the high output 'Dimebucker' really sounds nice. The floyd stayed in tune quite well on the model i tried.

Only major gripe i found with the Dean Dime's are the volume/volume/tone layout, as you can't just quickly cut the sound with a swoop of the hand. If you lower the volume of the bridge pickup, the neck pickup can still be faintly heard. Also, the Dimebucker is a seriously high output mutha. If i wasn't muting or holding the neck, notes would fly of the guitar and you'd get alot of noise. I guess it's easy to get used to that though.

Re: Which Guitar Is Better

IMO The Jackson, you have two real Seymour pickups (as opposed to one), no Floyd to deal with. The Dean will have a floyd, but not a particularily good one, which might be a bit of a pain.

But really, I wouldn't buy either, not too much into either of the body shapes. As far as metal guitars go for the money I'd get a nice RG or a ESP LTD EC-1000.

Re: Which Guitar Is Better

hmm i was going to think that the rr guitar would be better ( u guys are talking about the $1,200 ong right)? Just because the dimebag guitar isnt neck thru and doesnt have sustain the other guitar does.

Re: Which Guitar Is Better

Although I would choose the RR, how do you know the Dean doesn't sustain like the Jackson would? There are some bolt-ons that would have better sustain that many neck-throughs? Did you actually play either guitar?

Re: Which Guitar Is Better

personally, i dont dig the different shapes on those guitars - i need something strat-like to sit and play comfortably, but thats just me. if the shape doesnt come into play with you, i'd probably go with the jackson, but definetally try them both first to make a good decision.

...or as a third option, get a used jem

From his nick, I am guessing no

I find set necks sustain better than neck thrus but you get that big ass neck block that gets in the way when you try to solo.

Dime is the bomb, but IMHO, you can never go wrong with the RR model....

Re: Which Guitar Is Better

Eh, forget both and get the Schenker model.

USA pickups, V body, and a funky finish.

You should always try out guitars before you buy them. If it were me, I'd go with the Razorback, seeing as you're a Dime fan.

Re: Which Guitar Is Better

Washburn pt60hm.... look it up, comfortable sitting down because of the shortened one side, and plays brilliantly, 2 huge duncs (i have a prototype model with custom wound washburn pups) and the floyd rose is amazing, i havnt got the locking nuts on and i still use the trem how i want, and it keeps tune 9 times outta 10.

cheers

Re: Which Guitar Is Better

Try out ESP SV standard, it's great guitar too. More expensive tought but close to Jackson Rhoads.
