guitar plug in to a peavey session bass amp

I plugged my guitar in to a bass amp (with bass cabinet also) and it sounds cool, almost like a acustic guitar. Is the amp in danger?

This is far from an expert opinion, but I've done it before too, and I don't believe it'd be a problem. The frequency response is quite a bit higher than a bass, but the dynamic response of a bass amp has to be quite a bit wider. A guitar falls into a pretty tight dynamic range- it gets louder when you really dig in, but not drastically so. A bass, on the other hand, occupies a HUGE dynamic range. The difference between plucked and slapped/popped bass (barring any compression in the amp, of course) is massive. You can overdrive the hell out of a clean guitar amplifier when you start slapping and popping on a bass pleyed through it- I'm not sure if this is a GOOD idea, but EMG's output about, what, 25dB over a typical guitar pickup...? So it's probably safe... Every once in a while I'll record a bassline through my guitar amp, but since i'm a hack bassist, it's normally either picked or fingerstyle, the dynamic curve is pretty limited...

Anyway, back on topic. Although the frequency response is generally higher, the dynamic range is significantly lower, so it won't be taxing the amplifier as much.

As for the "acoustic" sound, I'm guessing this amp has a high-frequency driver? Just wondering...
