guitar strap help! UK

Hey guys!

I am having a bit of trouble Im hoping you can assist with...

I Have a very bad back, im only young, so it is a big issue atm, I can barely play my les paul or tele standing up for more than 5 minuites!

Ive been looking around the internets for a nice padded strap that could eliviate some of the weight on my shoulders,
I have looked at a load of straps, but found no reviews at all...
I only have a very tight budget to be honest, so a nice affordable strap would be nice.
Ive really really dont want a nylon/crap kind of strap, as it digs in and hurts like a bitch!

Can anybody please please help and give me a few names of padded straps (preferably leather)
And please, UK only!

thanks alot in advance!

John

Bucketheads strap is very comfortable. It is elastic and stretches so it distributes the weight evenly across the back, not just on the shoulder. About $25 from Levys.

Planet Waves sells a DARE strap that goes over both shoulders (specifically for players with back pain) and the also have 3 different types of padding that can be added to most straps. Here is the DARE strap http://store.daddario.com/category/154813/DARE_Strap and here is the page with the different pads http://store.daddario.com/category/1...&currency_id=1

I have a Levy padded leather strap that is pretty comfy but I would imagine the double strap would probably be best for you.

Re: guitar strap help! UK

Check out Manson's custom guitar straps. LOADS of high up people use them, including Matt Bellamy (If your into muse at all). They're 100% leather, and they're very wide too. Ive had one for the last 5 years and ive bought two more because of how comfy they are.

Have a look at them at;
www.Mansons.co.uk

They're not cheap, but they're worth it.

I know that Get-em Get-em makes very broad straps, this should help to distribute the weight!

Re: guitar strap help! UK

You might want to check out "Slider" straps. They're available over here from Musician's Friend and lots of other places. They are a dual shoulder strap that are specifically designed for properly balancing the guitar's weight. I haven't tried one but have read good reviews from a number of folks that had back issues like yours.

Also, I realize it's a bit annoying to suggest this, but... you might want to experiment with a lighter guitar. There's a pretty big difference between the weight of a basswood strat-style and a mahogany LP. LPs are notorious for giving people back trouble.

I'm using Ernie Ball strap and I like it but if you want something padded, how about classic fender strap?
