Hafler/Bogner Triple Giant preamp

Hi there
Has anyone ever had a Hafler/Bogner Triple Giant preamp before?

Having searched the forum the people who have or had one are
Rob Balducci
davenit
shawn
some other guy who I forget his name now

Anyone got one since?

Anyone have a manual or know where I might be able to get a copy of one?

I have checked harmony-central I have the reviews etc.

Apart from Rob, has anyone had it modded?

Best wishes and thanks very much in advance.

Simon

Never did much care for the ADA sound aside from the Cab simulator II. The Marshall JMP-1 is pretty killer (especially with a Marshall 9200 dual 100 watt mono block power amp) or the Digitech 2101LE or Artist sounds very good through a nice power amp...........
going to try something else for a change

Just responding to your post about the ADA. Sorry man. Didn't realize you had a thing against suggestions. <Joking> Besides it was more for the benefit of "the third eye" because he said he was "pre amp hunting".

hehe thanks

seriously though
from what i've been researching it seems that Bogner and Engl are quite similar soundwise
kinda in the same group as Egnater and CAE

so, sorry if i'm totally wrong

Are these rackmount preamps? Would you happen to have a pic of one?

ok so far so good

I have tried it with my Marshall 12 W red stack...

Brown channel is excellent and some serious cool tones going on

Clean channel may have a bit too much drive too it, will have to try it with the rack

Sharp channel is just that, may take some tweaking with my set up

I might be able to change it further by swapping out the valves to ones with some different specs for each channel.

Each channel has two 12AX7s and there is an additional valve for output.

More report to follow when it gets into the rack and then I'll see how it is with a BBE, TC G major, and Mesa 2.90 into Mesa rectifier cabs...

Ok well I have plugged it into the rack and cranked it up!

It is a midi switchable three channel preamp and the channels are Clean, Brown and Sharp

Clean sound is really nice and was very good with my TC electronic G major chorus
Very responsive although I might add a bit of compression to this later.

Brown sound really rocks!
I also have a Keeley modded Boss SD-1 which really adds to it too.

Some really great tones and when I get my $40 a piece Raytheon valves in there I am sure it will be even better.

The Sharp channel was not as bad as I expected it to be. It has been posted that is isnt that great but with my set up it came out fine and really cut through the drums, bass and other guitarist.

I still need to do a load of tweaking on the sounds before I get the optimum out of it I think.

Test rig was:
Mahogany BMC jem with Steve's Special/Air Norton
Bad Horsie Wah
Keeley Boss SD-1
Bogner Triple Giant
Rocktron Hush
TC electronic G-major
Mesa 2.90 into two Mesa 2x12 cabs with Vintage 30s
my ears -><-

Cheers

Simon
