HELP! Mesa Roadster not producing sound!

Just dropped over two grand on a brand new Mesa/Boogie Roadster 2x12 combo, brought it home to play and to my shock and dismay no sound is produced by the monster.

Yes, I acknowledge my stupidity for not trying it before I took it home but that's all in the past now.

Anyone have any idea what in the world is wrong with it? I initially thought it was my effects but I ran the guitar straight into the amp to no avail.

If I crank the master and channel volume up on the amp I can faintly hear sound being produced, but that's it.

HELP, please!

Re: HELP! Mesa Roadster not producing sound!

Just in case you have never used a Tube amp before, you must switch on amp for 30 secs to 1 min, then flick the standby button.

or

Check at the back and make sure your tubes are glowing red, make sure your cables are n ot faulty, and check anything before you decide to take the amp back, you would hate to bring it back and it works fine in the shop.

Sorry to hear about the issues.....

Re: HELP! Mesa Roadster not producing sound!

Are the speakers connected? It's possible the store used it with an extension cab and forgot to plug the internal speakers back in. Found out by accident once that if someone unplugs your speakers when you're not looking, and you crank your amp up to see why there's no sound, you'll actually hear a very faint, trebly buzz sound from within the amp itself, coinciding with when you play, even though no speakers are plugged in.

Note: DO NOT try this for yourself as it can easily blow up your amp. As soon as I realised my cab was unplugged I turned the amp off and averted a meltdown!

Re: HELP! Mesa Roadster not producing sound!

Hi, I once had a similar problem myself with a Peavey 5150, the sound I was getting was coming from the preamp. My probably wasn't due to faulty output tubes it was because a capacitor blew... go figure. In your place I'd take it back and get another, 2k is alot of money and I wouldn't advise letting the shop fix it, ask for a new one and try it out before you walk out the door.

Good luck, regards

Nelson

Also check the back panel and make sure the silent recording switch is not activated!! This is a great feature, but if engaged will mute the speaker per se, good luck, I agree If ita a MESA then they make it right for ya ,no problem, Sambo

Also dial the FX mix down to zero to see if that helps.

The Solo, Tuner Mute and FX send level are all routed directly from the preAmp section..

1. Make sure that Tuner Mute is NOT on..
2. Make sure the FX loop is switched to OFF and the FX Level is all the way up, if you are not using FX.
3. Make sure that the Solo is not turned-up on the front, just in case 1. and 2. solve the problem...(It will Blast you in the face)

This is the first thing that I noticed on my Roadster....

Re: HELP! Mesa Roadster not producing sound!

I suspected it was a faulty tube at first but made sure the speakers were connected and nothing was set to mute. After much hassle I replaced a faulty tube and voila, SOUND!

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. This beast is definitely a step up from my Nomad.

Re: HELP! Mesa Roadster not producing sound!

Glad you got it sorted out. I suspected it would be a tube. If I could own another Mesa it would probably be a Roadster. Such a good amp.

It's an amazing Amp! I have a Mark IV, and lately I have been playing just my Roadster...You can turn the drive almost all of the way down, and you still get BITE!!!!!!!!!

They cost, but you get your money's worth....

I LOVE MESA BOOGIE
