How do i get Steve Vai's clean tone @ 5:15 from the Jemini Demo??

I'm trying to achieve Vai's clean tone @ 5:15 of the Jemini Demo. I also want to be able to use distortion with that tone with out it getting muddy. As you can tell all the notes seem pretty articulate with the reverb chorus and delay effects. How does he do that?

Is he using stereo detune? Is it a special chorus pedal that sounds good with distortion unlike most chorus pedals? Is it the pickups? The legacy Amp? The fat sound is most noticable when he strikes the low B. No matter what i do, i cant get my low B to sound like that. Do I need 2 amps to get that effect with one amp detuned or one amp with chorus pedal using an aby/split foot switch?

This is what I'm using : Glen Burton Guitar----BOSS CS-2 Compression Sustainer------BOSS BF-2 Flanger------DIGITECH Stereo Chorus CR-7------BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone-----BOSS PS-3 Digital Pitch Shifter Delay------BOSS GE-7 Equalizer-------JC20 Jet City 20 Watt Tube Amp-------4x12 Ampeg Cab SLM Electronic Speakers-------4x12 Randall G12K-85 Speakers

He's not using the Jemini for the clean.
He's also using his Legacy 1 amp and high end effects.

I agree that it's a fantastic clean tone. I have a Legacy head that has a great clean tone, but it's not that good. I only lack the extra Legacy head, a Vai approved 7 string guitar and several thousand dollars' worth of rack mounted effects and mixing gear.

He was using the TC G-System round about that period. He may be getting the chorus from that in this vid.

Would an Arion SCH1 Stereo Chorus get me there?

A TC Electronic Corona Chorus might be a safer bet.

No.
You need the same cables/pick/strings/pups/amp/cab/mic/recording gear/engineer.
For the love of God there's no magic gear, if you want that tone, you need ALL he used.
You already asked ten times how to ge it, you can't without all that stuff.
You should change Tone Geek to Tone Noob

Would I get close if i paired a carvin lagacy with my jet city 20 and put an ArionSCH1 Stereo Chorus in carvin effects loop? I would be using aby switch to play through 2 amps. I 'm reading that this gives a very 3D surround sound where one amp is wet with chorus and the other is dry meaning with out. thinking about saving up just to buy his amp. should i do that? does the carvin legacy have a huge tonal range good for metal and punk?

No.
Grab a Jem, a Jemini and a Legacy. Then learn to play like Steve---that'll get you there.

Re: How do i get Steve Vai's clean tone @ 5:15 from the Jemini Demo??

i dont want a jem. the metal zone kills that pedal and i can get any tone i want out of it with my eq pedal on or off. I exclusively asked how to get the tone he has at 5:15 anyhow and there's distortion on at the point in the video. The effect im looking for is not so obvious to people who are not tone sensitive or conscious.

and let me add that all chorus pedals have their own charter so if anyone can vouch for playing through a split signal with one chorus that comes close i will buy the carvin legacy and the chorus pedal or perhaps its not a chorus but a delay being used on one amp and none on the other to give a chorus like effect.

I have to agree. WOOD is very important and can make or break your tone.

First--you'd better go back and listen again. Steve says, "This is with the Jemini off."
Second---the MT-2 is a crap pedal unless modified. It's the second most common pedal people ask me to mod for them.
If you can get any tone you want with it--I guess this thread is really useless......
