How do you install the Clip Lock Dimarzio straps on guitars?

Do you unscrew the original holders and then screw in the strap or how? I don't want to mess this up so I asked here first.

Pardon my ignorance. It's the first time I use one.

All you do is take off the original strap buttons and screw in the strap Clip piece and you're all set.

The screws were too small for my RG350DX...so I kept the original one but the small metal piece that's suppossed to go in the middle was too small...so I left it out. Will that be detrimental to the straps "warranty"?

I had to do the same thing, but only on the butt end of the guitar. I think it will be alright to leave them out. How are you supposed to lay the ends in the guitar case without scratching the guitar? I just don't get these straps...

Oh thank God, I am not alone. I just can't picture my RG350DX impacting the cold floor... Just imagine me when I eventually buy my JEM

You won't think that'lll be a problem, right, the leaving the metal thing out?

No, shouldn't be. Just be sure to check the strap there, because the screw could eventually wear a hole in the strap's fabric. Other than that, I don't see any problems.

Do a search on this topic. There's been significant discussion about clip-locks, and there's some information you might want, 7, prior to adjusting the way you install them.

I put a little work into them so I can make the holes on the ends bigger so I can force Dunlop Straploks on them. I don't like leaving the clips dangling on the guitar but I LOVE those straps. Ahh, well. You take the good with the bad I guess.

i prefer the Levy's version....no metal pieces to worry about, they're more comfortable to me, the ends are shorter, and they cost half of what the DiMarzio straps do. only thing is, they're not interchangeable....
