Exclamation jemini pedal help

Hey i bought a jemini pedal a few days ago and when i use it it seems to act like more of a fuzz pedal, and not in a good way. on the clean channel its unusable and added to the dirty channel its not bad but there is still an unpleasant fuzzy ripping like quality to the tone. im playing it through the front of a new mesaboogie trans atlantic 100watt head with a jem7vwh. any suggestions? thanks

Re: jemini pedal help

Distostion pedals do this if they dont have enough power going to them. If your using a power supply try running just the jem pedal into the am alone. If it still is fuzzing try using a battery. Maybe your power supply does not have enough m/amps to runn all your pedals ?
Let us know how you go.

Re: jemini pedal help

Which side of the pedal does it, green or red?
Try backing the tone knob off to 12 o'clock and see if that helps. The tone control on most distortion and ODs sound like bees in a can if all the way up.

Put a multimeter on it to make sure that battery is supplying correct voltage.

Could you post some clips so we can hear it?

+1

And if you can't get out of that pedal a decent tone, sell it and get a real pedal. I mean, that's the classic pedal that guitar players try to sell but they never use... ask why.

Re: jemini pedal help

The Jemini is not a bad pedal. In fact, it's better than average. There are better ones out there, but the Jemini sounds great in either mode.
Remember, a pedal alone will not give you a great sound. It's just one piece of the tone puzzle.

Re: jemini pedal help

I was not happy with mine, even though I ran it trough a legacy with a jem on the input. Too thin and fizzy. Also, enabeling the circular leds which made the pedal consume about the double and introduced a hiss! I'd dail the knobs back and add carefully. Check the youtube demo of vai.

Re: jemini pedal help

I have had a jemini for about 3 years now, and I really really like mine.
What I would suggest is:
The bright switch, use it, since it DOES alter the tonality of the pedal, because it directs more/less energy to the LEDs. Maybe changing that helps.
And get yourself a power supply cable. That usually helps as well.

Re: jemini pedal help

My patch cables are getting pretty much near garbage, could that also be the reason for the ripping bas fuzz and aweful bottoming out?

Yep--that's a big factor.

Re: jemini pedal help

The Jemini does sound hairy, or fuzzy if you want - on purpose. I suspect that it's just the way Mr. Vai likes it, and it's a case of what works for him doesn't necessarily work for everyone...
