Re: The Jemsite guide to amps

Hey! I'm looking for a versatile all-tube amp (head or combo, doesn't really matter) 12-15W with power reduction. Price up to 350$
The essential thing for me is, as I said, versatility. It must have decent clean and overdrive, it must be able to sound vintage and modern as well (don't get me wrong, I don't expect it to be Fender Deluxe Tweed and Mesa Boogie combined in one for this price).
Bands I like are: Hendrix, Oasis, Funkadelic, Steve Vai, RHCP.
Actually I owe a Fender American Standard Stratocaster, looking forward to buy an old RG/Jem.
Any ideas?
Greetings, Patryk

Re: The Jemsite guide to amps

I think you did well just getting started. where to start! Solid state or tube? Line 6 do digital well, but its still sounds sterile. Self biasing tubes cut service costs but you may outlay 3 to 5k for this option. If you club gig, then a combo. If you dont have a van then that 4x12 may get you kicked out of the band. Leaving a band mate for the next trip just cements the selfish "look at me" tag we wear. If your a rocker needing monster gain or distortion look for a built in variac. Or just take a floor processor and plug into the desk.

Excellent line of amps. I have the Tweaker 88 myself and love it - it made more than one of my dirt pedals obsolete.

If you look around you can find the Tweaker 40 or 15 for under the budget your looking for. I got my 88 with a legacy 2x12 for around 500 used. Still the best purchase I've made gear wise.
