Joe and Marshall

Looks like Joe and Marshall have got something cooking!

GW Youíre now back to playing Marshall amps. Do you consider them the perfect amplifier with which to play Jimiís music?
SATRIANI Yeah, Iím really loving these JVMs that Iíve got right now. Iím working with a designer at Marshall to see if we can come up with an unusual amplifier I can call my own. Iíve got a ton of Marshalls. In fact, I routinely buy a lot of old Marshall amps for each recordósome of them get used, some are just for referenceóand then I wind up selling them at the end of the year. Sometimes I think, Why donít I just keep them, you know? [laughs] But you canít keep everything. Otherwise, I would have over 100 Marshall amps by now.

I'm really digging the new Peavey Butcher head which is coming out next month. Peavey techs said it's the JSX50 but instead of 50watts it's 100-50watts.

Re: Joe and Marshall

Cool news on the Butcher. I'd not heard that yet, thanks for bringing it up.

No problem It's great news that the JSX 50 will be released even if they call it the Butcher.

I'm not all that up on all the different types of tubes. Is the switch from the JSX50 ones that different?

Well not THAT different. Both will give you that Rock big sound but 6550 have rounder bottom.

Personally I prefer EL34s. What we don't know is if the Butcher will use both EL34 and 6550.

Announced but it never actually saw any daylight under that name and cosmetic scheme.
Constantine - do you have a link to where that info is from?

They were supposed to come out but Joe Satriani left peavey for marshall so they canceled production.

BUT!....Peavey produced the "JSX 50" as "The Butcher" but instead of 6550 and 50watts it's EL34s and 100-50watts (switchable)

It's on Page "4". He was interviewed by Joe Bosso.

If Marshall made Joe an amp I figure it would be some kind of a beast

Re: Joe and Marshall

I begin to wonder if the jvm I had for testing was a lemmon, as I hated it with a fiery passion. But so many people give them good reviews....
But I'll prolly never know, cause my shop has none anymore and I guess Marshall wont send me one hehe...

Musta been Tank. Both my head and combo testers were ultimate killers. I not once but twice said "this is the only amp I will ever give up my Mesa for" ...and a month later both Bill and Brent from Mastodon switched from Mesa to JVMs.

I'd still take a MKIV or IIC+ over the V, but wouldn't trade the IV over the JVM. One thing i'll say the JVM hands down beats the Mesa's on is the reverb - holy @#$&^$#%&#$^ is the JVM's reverb sweet, definitely the icing on the cake. Tone wise, it's still a taste thing.
