Question legacy 50 watt setting

just curious,..on the 50 watt setting are all the tubes suppose to be lit up?? mine are....and i thought it was suppose to be only two. (or is it just 2 that are actually working but they all light up)
also any advice on a way to work the tubes without the volume being so loud?

Re: legacy 50 watt setting

Yes, all the heaters will still be on. I'm not sure if the Legacy runs all 4 tubes in Triode mode vs Pentode mode or if it just cuts out 2 of the tubes, but either way, everything is fine.

Re: legacy 50 watt setting

Whoa guys...

Pentode mode uses all 4 filaments of the tube. Triode uses only 3 which cuts the wattage down (in half, ironically!). All 4 tubes are still used in both modes.

What was cool about the 30th anniversary Marshall is it had a triode/pentode switch AND a switch to go from 2 to 4 power tubes, in effect giving us 50 or 100 watts with 4 power tubes, or 25 or 50 with only 2. That option is pretty rare though.

Re: legacy 50 watt setting

i know it's kinda off topic, but the switch for selecting 50/100 watts fell off inside of my legacy. does anyone know what to do because i don't really want to send it in for a repair that small.
