Legacy with jem7vwh?

Hi everybody, I want to buy a carvin legacy amp but many people say that its impossible to get the sound that we ear on the carvin site. I like the sound of this demo, but I wanted to know if someone here have tried this amp with a Jem 7vwh? Because, this amp was made to be played by a jem7vwh, so I think it should sound close to the demo that Steves play. anyways jsut give me your opinion about this amp, I need to know before I order one.

not being able to play the amp is a big problem before buying it. i was going to get a legacy before but i didnt want to order it and might be desapointed.i think that a ds-1 ultra(keeley) would be good with it. steve uses the keeley ds-1 on the live in astoria dvd

Re: Legacy with jem7vwh?

Hi,
I have Jem VSBL and I play it through a Legacy combo. I don't know if this will help but if I switch to my neck pup and play "K'm Pee Du Wee" the tone is just like the record.
You could go to the Carvin amp forums and you can easily find a clip someone has posted of the Legacy without any delay on it like Vai has on that demo. That might give you an idea of it will sound like.

Re: Legacy with jem7vwh?

I like the amp a lot. I realize its not as cool as some of the boutique amps out there but for the money its a lot of bang for the buck. The thing I like about the Legacy is that its not as mushy with high gain as some of the comperably priced amps out there.

I have a Jem90 and a Ash Warmoth OFR strat with ebony board and they both sound pretty close to the demo tone. I did have to change out the pickup on the Warmoth strat from a Duncan JB to a Dimarzio Tonezone to roll off some of those highs. Something about Ash+Ebony+JB+Stainless Steel Fretwire was way too tinny thru the legacy, but the Tone Zone made it perfect - I was shocked at how spot on the Dimarzio webpage was about the EQ curve on that pickup

Steve uses a regular DS-1 for that performance.

YouR'e sure thats an original boss ds-1? because I already have one, so I will not modified it if its an original one. Does it have a big difference between the keeley ds-1 and the original?

Re: Legacy with jem7vwh?

In the link below there seems to be some confusion as to whether or not the DS1 is modded by R. Keeley - maybe someone can give us some input on that - It appears that the green circular thingy on the input side is just a sticker for the color code for the connection rather than an LED. - Not Modded, IMHO

BTW - I ordered the Legacy Half stack. The head and foot switch have arrived. There is a bit of a delay getting the cab though...aaarghhhh...the ever painful waiting period...tick, tock, tick, tock I'll let you know what I think if I ever get the damn thing

Re: Legacy with jem7vwh?

I run both my Jems (VWH and BRMR) through a Legacy combo and love it. That little combo is louder than a lot of half stacks I've used (other than Legacy ) Great sound too!
