looking to buy a new half stack

Ok so i've been listening to demos and listening to Engl Amps lately, and i feel that my Krank isn't living up to the type of sound I need and from the looks of it an engl is the way to go.

So I have a question what would be great for getting a good Thrash/heavy sound?

So far the ones I like are the:
Invader
Savage,
Powerball,
and the
Blackmore signature.

so any suggestions?

The ENGL SE is a winner through and through.

Have you checked the Mesa Mark V out yet?
I have been using the head version lately and it seems made for thrash, but i've pulled off some old zevon slide tones on the mark 1 mode...
It's gonna hold it's value quite well too.

yeah I like mesa's and I would get an SE but it's way too out of my price range. Unless I somehow sell my Krank but i'd still be 1500 short of an SE and I would have to wait longer to get a cab.

Re: looking to buy a new half stack

That is true.
Powerball then, versatile and the desire/hype for the Powerball is greater imo.

The Mesa mk5 and VHT sigx are really versatile.
There are sooooo many choices out there, Marshall JVM and 6100 series, Splawn quickrods, Laney's 3 channel model, etc. etc.

I'd keep my krank if i were you too, resale isn't to high right now and two amps are always better than one if you have space and can afford it (backups are nice!)

best of luck.

Just bought a Mesa Mark V combo--that thing is a monster--on channel 3 on the "Extreme" setting you can get all the gain you'd ever need. Super-dark and super-metal. Check out my official review...

Also, if money is an issue, Marshall is selling the DSL half-stack for around $1200 US. The overdrive 2 channel is incredibly bass-oriented with plenty of gain. Just a thought...
