Marshall DSL 100 Effects Loop Problem

Hey gang,

I just snagged a new Intellifex On-Line to run through the loop of my JCM 2000 DSL100, which had previously been running a series of BOSS pedals.

Here's the problem: I can not, for the life of me, get the signal coming from the amp to register on the Intellifex's input meter. The input signal is so weak that the signal-to-noise ratio inside the Rocktron is totally out of whack. Additionally, I've got plenty of gain-borne hiss that I'd like to squash, but the HUSH system is gating nearly everything (due, again, to the weak signal).

The "FX Loop Level" switch on the back of the DSL apparently only attenuates the RETURN level, not the SEND level. Ditto for the -10/+4 button on the Rocktron. Depressing either has a profound effect on the volume, but nothing on the FX send level ... only the Rocktron's "input level" knob seems to do anything to the initial signal (cranking it all the way still fails to register the send signal of the DSL).

Here's the deal: The signal is somewhere around -22db, found rather clumsily by playing with the "ducking" threshold. Just plugging my JEM777 direct into the Rocktron's input generates a signal that can be seen on the meters ... so a) the meters are operational; b) the slightest signal will obviously do.

Has anyone had success mating the DSL to ANY rack equipment?

Thanks in advance,
