Thumbs up Marshall Mode Four - question....

Any opinions about MFs clean channel? What you think about MF as poweramp? Has anyone tested MF with rocktron VooduValve or Prophesy? All opinions welcome!!!!

Re: Marshall Mode Four - question....

i know that mike mushok from staind used the cleans from it on 14 shades of grey. i always thought those were pretty good. but then u have to take into the fact of producing so tones could be altered quite a bit.

Why would you buy a head and an external pre amp?

Especially a $1k+ solid state one. The Mode Four is way overpriced in the first place, using only the poweramp is crazy, IMO.

Re: Marshall Mode Four - question....

I am doing the same thing with a JMP-1 and a peavey mace, because the in-built pre-amp is not good. The cleans are fine on the JMP

I think that you good do the same thing with a cheaper amp.

Never actually heard the clean channel on a Mode Four. In fact I don't hear it on many amps

Re: Marshall Mode Four - question....

If it's comparable in price to a tranny power amp, and the cost of any extra racking you need, sure, good egg. Otherwise you are paying alot for something you don't really need IMO, bad egg. BTW I am the king of buying guitar stuff that I don't need.

The only reason for doing it would be that you wuold have a back up pre-amp just in case.

I would say that my Tsl-100 blows the mode-4 away. when do you ever really need 300 ****ing watts anyway?

300watts SS = 100watts tube based on headroom.

hands down! The Mode Four can't even hold its own against the solid state and "hybrid" Marshalls that cost a fraction of the price, or even against most cheap solid state amps for that matter!
