Re: Mesa F-50 combo vs. Marshall MF-350 Mode 4 head

ok it's been said already, but just to be sure you have enough opinions... THE MARSHALL MODE FOUR IS A PIECE OF JUNK. I'd rather stick my instument cable into a pile of steamy dog turds then the mode 4.

having to change tubes on an amp shouldn't stop you from buying a tube amp- would changing tires on a car keep you from driving? if you want the best sound, then you're gonna have to just bite the bullet and go for it- worry about the hundred/150 or so dollars later. 3 years away is long enough away to prepare for it.

I agree. Ill get a tube amp. I have 1100 CANADIAN. It was 950 US + like 200 US shipping + border taxes which comes up to like 1600 Canadian. Ok Marshall Mode 4 is a turd bag amp. Well said. lol SO what now? I guess I gotta read some reviews and go try amps at a store. It would be best if I get a combo but I dont know which one Mesa or Marshall Tremoverb, Rectoverb I dunno. They dont have em in my music store so I cant try em.

Im thinking: Peavey 6505, Marshall TSL 100, and Peavey JSX head
Im not good at making decisions when it comes to amps. Im good at cars. LOL

Re: Mesa F-50 combo vs. Marshall MF-350 Mode 4 head

Honestly if you're not looking at gigging I wouldn't waste my time getting a head/412. If you only plan on playing at living/bedroom level, get a 212 combo. A mesa f-50 sounds great if you dig the mesa mark sound. A 212 combo is WAY more than sufficient than your needs, and 50watts tube is still WAY more than sufficient. You could easily gig (in most situations) with a 50w 212 tube combo. 100 watts is only a couple db's louder than 50 watts. The only difference is headroom, and at living room levels 1-1.5 vol is going to be LOUD. Added bonus, 50w tube is 2 fewer tubes to change than 100w. For what you want and your budget get a mesa dc-5 212 combo. It'll be used, but tons of gain and great tone.

Well besides the head, is there anything else with a mesa combo (tremoverb dual rec or somthing) that has a similar sound to a dual rec head?

I've heard the Dual caliber series is somewhere in between a mark series and a recto

the combo version of the dual caliber series is the aforementioned dc-5(or 3, or 10)

unless you really luck out and find a used one, the closest thing you'll find at the store is an f-50 combo(minus g-eq)

ok. Thanks There is a used DC-5 on **** for 500 US. But man...I still think a 6505 can beat it in gain...What would you get if you liked Linkin Park?
