Mini tube amps

I have seen those 1.5watt tube amps, the nano amp from zvex and the tiny tone from torres amps, just wondered if any one has anything to say about them as i am thinking about getting one. Thanks

My power amp. A little bit more than 1.5W. Loud as heck.

That would be too embarrassing to put on the net. If only I could have a pro player play it, I'd put the samples on the web somewhere. So far, the only thing I can offer is to make the damn thing yourself, and hear what it sounds like. Or I can make one for you (or sell you mine and make another one) for $250 and you'll return it to me if not satisfied. It's point-to-point, hand-wired, uses highest quality parts, made in USA... Well, you know the rest.

It also doesn't have the bottom cover, so you can enjoy looking at the assembly any time :

Here's the schem:

Intriguing... Although, i wouldn't think you'd want it to be "loud as heck"- i thought the whole point of a low-wattage system was to get power amp overdrive at reasonable volumes...

And come on, man, just give us a few open chords or something...

Now, what's the second knob for...? volume i can understand, but most power amps don't have tone knobs, i thought...

Anyway, how much experience wiring do you ened to be able to do that well...?

The second knob is Presence, of course. I was thinking about having a "Focus" control, but there's no space on the front panel for it.

Another thing "from da labs":

I've just finished it today. I can't say what amp this is and I can't give away the schematic. I can only say it's a highly collectible and sought-after model. Man, nothing ever sounded THIS GOOD from the first power-up. There's still a little bit of hum, but I'll get rid of it later. This is just a preamp prototype. 3 tubes, effect loop is not wired yet.

OK. I'm gone practicing.

ah, right. sorry, i'm a combo guy myself (so far, anyway)

You can't give it away now, or ever? Anyway, after that comment, you GOTTA post sound clips.

Now I see why you're a huge tube buff. Nice stuff! Definitely post sound samples. As much as I like Line6's versatility, I'd still love to get a few really nice tube amps (Rivera, Mesa, and Matchless).

Gotta solder together some wires and connect my mackie board to the PC to record this stuff. It sounds like a BOMB. I had an opportunity to turn it up loud today.
