NAD. Hot Rod Deluxe

I found an amazing deal on a Hot Rod Deluxe and had to jump on it.

Lately I have been wanting to feel the air moving and this amp was just the thing I needed. Upgraded speaker, great condition and plenty loud.

and..since I had some extra cash, I bought a OCD pedal, TC Electronics Flashback delay, a Blues Driver and an SM57.

It was good day!!!

I have had one of the HR Deluxes before but never took the time to really pedal it up and now I am glad I did, the OCD was exactly the tone I heard in my head. Cant wait to get some stuff recorded.

I could use a suggestion of what pedal to get for singing Satriani-ish lead tones???

Re: NAD. Hot Rod Deluxe

I had one of those amps, very nice for the price.

As for a satch like pedal, how about the vox satchuator?

The satchurator will cover you for a "Joe in a box" tone. The pedal is nice but it's pretty much a one trick pony with limited capabilities.

The guy that makes the best distortion pedals is wampler, you can hear one of his famous pedals here, with the same amp you have, hot rod deluxe here:

I could recomend you the wampler Pinnacle and the wampler triple wreck, those pedals kick serious ass on any amp. They are not cheap anyway.

They are increadable musical... check it out.

Cheers

ps: Change your instrument cables, what your using sucks and just kill your tone. Get some dimarzio or george L cables.

Those are really great amps, I love the built in reverb. Congratulations! :-)

Re: NAD. Hot Rod Deluxe

Thanks guys.

I have had a satchurator before and was a bit un-impressed but I don't think I really spent enough time with it.

Wampler pedals. Brian's stuff is amazing. Problem is, he has too many pedals that I would like to have. The Hot Wired videos I have seen are very interesting, the Plextortion or Super Plextortion seem to fit my 80's tendencies and the Plexi drive would be a great crunch pedal, then you throw in the Triple Rec. I was actually planning on emailing Brian and asking him my question.

Best thing? Brian is about 15 miles away.

The instrument cable sucks, I agree, I just haven't researched the cables yet. The patch cables were just thrown on. I usually use the non wired versions (side by side)

The amp though has really impressed me.

Suhr Shiba Drive. The smoothest pedal I've ever heard for lead tones, and the only one I use .

Re: NAD. Hot Rod Deluxe

The Hot Rod's are great amps. The cleans are to die for but the overdrive channels are iffy at best. Fortunately, they take pedals extremely well. I have the Hot Rod DeVille 4X10 and it sounds great when paired with a Way Huge Green Rhino. Great for Rock and Bluesy type stuff. I just picked up an AMT-R1 pre-amp/distortion pedal today and it's a beast!
