New Amp day!! Egnater Renegade
The features are what sealed the deal for me on this head. I was teetering between the Renegade and the Engl Fireball and the Egnater just had too much versatility to pass by. I'll still search for a price bargain on a used Fireball as the Engl is a totally different beast all together. Here's some cool features that I dig:
*Reverb has a "spill" feature so if you have reverb enabled on channel 1 and not on channel 2 the reverb will "spill" over into the other channel when you channel switch making a smooth transition.
*Tube blend from EL34 to 6L6
*Tons of amp protection in the circuitry from power surges to transformer protection if you power it on and forget to add a load (speaker cab).
*Fast Blo fuses. One per output tube pair. In the event of a power tube failure, the corresponding fuse will open protecting the amp from additional damage by effectively removing the failed tube from the circuit. You can keep playing with just a small reduction in performance and still get through the gig. The amp will protect itself from the potential damage and you can continue to play.
*Footswitch allows you to assign reverb and effects to individual channels.
*Main 1 and Main 2 master volume (think solo boost)
*Easily explains how to bias both sides of the head PLUS is compatible with 6L6/5881, EL34/, E34L, 6550, 6V6 (JJ ONLY), KT66 and KT77 tubes. (manual even lists the mV adjustment for each tube)
* TONE TONE TONE
