Re: New Mesa Mark IV owner!

Imagine the same volume expressed in house bricks and you are getting close. My Stereo 2:90 power amp weighs about as much as a bag of concrete, literally!

Re: New Mesa Mark IV owner!

I'm genuinely of the opinion that people shouldn't be allowed to tell anyone else when they buy a Mark IV.

Seriously.

Joe

P.S Jus jokin, congrats

Re: New Mesa Mark IV owner!

If my 2:90 was anything to go by, start on the weights .

The 2:90 was 40Ib or so, I'd imagine the Mark IV would be more again .

Download the manual from http://www.mesaboogie.com/manuals/Mark%204.pdf
and get intimately familiar with it, Boogies don't dial in like Marshalls.

You dial in your gain from the EQ as much as the drive knobs...

CONGRATS, BTW.

Good advice.

I'd advise keeping the Bass around 2, any higher than that and it'll be pretty boomy. The amp is already very midrangy, but in a smooth way, it doesn't have the gritty midrange of a Marshall. You probably wouldn't want it much higher than 6.

If you cant get a good lead tone with the "harmonics" setting, try "mid gain" instead, it increases the gain in the mids, and really gives some nice milky lead tones .
