Opinions on rack Delays Line 6 Echo Pro Studio Modeler

Hey guys!
I am considerring getting the Line 6 rackmount echo/delay unit.
Echo Pro Studio Modeler

GC is blowin them out at 249.99

My big question is, are they any good?
and can they get the 4 delay layer (4 different ms settings) like the digitech stuff?

Anyone know?

AND is there any other new rack delays out on the market???
I thought Chandler had one but cant find it...

I only want a dedicated delay rack... no other fluff..
thanks for the help!!

I'm on the same position as you are, i want to buy a rack delay too.

Do you have checked the TC Electronics D-Two? I've heard only good things about them (but i don't know the price though).

I haven't tested any of them, but TC could be an option to Line6...

Ouch TC versus Line6 ! That's a tough one. I've heard the line6 and it's pretty cool. If I had some $$$ I'd have one!

From where I sit, pretty much everything on the market is a good option to Line 6. And of course, TC deserves some serious listening and A/B ing. They put out quality stuff.

I've heard good things about the rackmount eho pro. Steve Luckather is using one and he has had every top of the line lex,T.c. and eventide unit at one time or another so the echo pro must be on par with the best units. Sounds good BUY IT!!!!.

actually, i think Line 6 stuff is lame... and over processed..
Thats why i was hesitant about the rack echo un it they have.. But GC freinds raved about it and say pros are using it etc...
Perhap DI recording it sounds good but the delay decay is pitiful...
i messed with one for an hour or so the other day...
And thanks Armdias... i totally forgot about the D two.. i was lookin real hard for one of those used at a good price a long time ago...

I actually have 2 Roland SDE 1000's.
I never thought about trying them with my Mesa but i did it tonight...
and so right now im putting an end to the rack delay search... Im almost satisfied with what this is doing for my sound... to the point where i am not gonna look for anything else in a dedicated rack delay..
this old Roland blows away the fake line 6 modeler...
I cant beleive i almost got sucked in...

So for now its this...
And to think i have had 3 Eventides and foolishly got rid of them all...
So until i break down and buy another this will be my main delay..

thanks for the worthy input.

Actually, that's because they're digital, so all they are is processed.

Everything's personal preference. If you don't like how it sounds, don't bother with it. It's all about how good it sounds to you. I just like the sound of Line6 stuff, and the options they give.

Hey guys, I use an old Roland sde 1000 unit for delay, and its totally hype, I love the tone.

Only drawback is that it doesn't support midi, so you can't use one of those large footcontrollers (although you can use other types).
Other than that, the sound is fabulous. Its smooth, not too tiny or processed, and best of all, there are turn knobs so you can controll how the delay sounds, which is really more convienient than having to push buttons for fast changes.

I agree Davster!!
plus i have 2 of thes eunit..
so i can really get some complex de;ays when needed..;-)

and twohands..
of course its 'digital and processed'.... but just some companies were able to get them to sound more realsitic and better .. Line 6 not being one of them...
MOF, most modelers i have tried sound horrible, and i have owned several...

Actually, i have owned about every piece of rack gear ever made thats any good... save the newer 7500 eventide series stuff and the newer tc/lexicons....

But thats to me.. there is always gonna be a diversety of followers as we have different ears.. yours just needs to get adjusted to ours...

you'll come over to the other side one day
LOL
