I've heard some good stuff about this amp but haven't actually tried one. I want something that will give a nice metal crunch and get a decent clean sound. I'm jammin' an RG3120DR with Paf Pro in neck and Tone Zone in bridge. Anyone know of any good combo amps under $800.00 (used)
Should I just look into a half stack?

I have a small rack and a 2x12 cabinet, and it's a bit of a pain to lug around... i kinda wish i'd got a combo. But, i really like the sound of closed-back cabinets, and there aren't many closed-back combos around.

If you're casually jamming around or playing small gigs, i would recommend a combo. But if you need to push more air, there's no substitute for a bigger box and more speakers flappin'!

I had a 5150 combo and a RG3120 with the same pickups, the 5150 will do the distortion easily, but there is a lot of high end hiss that I found unusable in a band situation. The cleans on the amp, are well crap really.

I would try it first before you buy, but there probably is better things out there to spend your money on.
