Those peaveys seem to be getting harder and harder to find . . . Used to be you could get them dirt cheap. Now . . . you gotta trade a full rack setup plus cab

I wouldn't do it...and I'm not saying that cuz I don't like rack gear cuz I own some rack gear too that I like - but the 5150 is becoming a collector's item...amps like that hold their value well...I would hold onto the 5150.

The tuner aside this rack seriously lacks in good equipment and your amp is worth more. He prolly gets you a used Behringer cab then :P

I would not do it. Your amp is fine.

Keep the amp! I am not impressed by that rack one bit, and as the others have stated already: the 5150s are getting rarer and rarer these days.

Rock on!

You would also need an amp for the rack, in addition to the cab. The MP-1 will do a ton of sounds, classic, heavy, cleans etc.. so you'd be covered that way, but that's it.

There's a rack amp included.

That being said, I'd keep your 5150.

I wouldnt do it mate - The 5150 is a classic - They can be modded to sound stupidly brutal also... 5150 was my beast of choice for a long time and it blew over plenty of other guitarists extremely expensive fancy heads in terms of sound and grunt... Also keeping it simple is always the best.. Youll have no end of grief with a rack setup... Think of all of the extra fault points youve got in the signal path...

Re: PEAVEY 5150 combo or this rack setup!!

The only thing of value is the ADA and power conditioner. They're not worth the swap. The 5150 has gained a status among users world wide. Price will hold strong or keep on going up, and as time passes, it'll 'vintage' and that'll add more $$ as usual.... especially when EVH is playing with the gods. You can see the ads...

"Peavey 5150. Vintage. Original. Better than the so-called F****r 5150 that uses cheap components/parts. I've compared both and the Peavey sounds so much better. Built like a tank and tone to die for. EVH in a box. Total BROOTALZ! If you're looking at this ad, there's no more to say...."

Start bid: $3500

LOL.....
