Pitch shifters don't like to be put after distortion or effects, even non-intelligent shifters.
Especially older ones will have trouble tracking.
Some have a separate (clean) input so they can pitch shift very distorted/effected signals, but that does not apply to the 33B iirc.
The trouble is that if you do the shifting pre-distortion, you are going to distort the shifted signal which might or might not work with the distortion you're using and will also depend on the interval you're shifting (just try to play heavily distorted diads in 5ths, octaves, Maj3rds, min3rds, 4ths etc.) If I'm not mistaken the 33B could have a whammy function (depending on firmware) which is typically put in front of distortion, otherwise leading to very lo-fi shifting.
Does the G-Major have a loop?
