Played my first show on some vintage power tubes...

By the grace of the good lord I found a quad of Sylvania STR-415's hiding in a peavey power amp, and got to play our Metal Blade showcase show with my Mesa loaded up with them...

The jury is in; the hype is definitely real. Vintage USA made tubes are whats up.

At idle they glow softly with no sign of strain...same under any heavy load...I can see why they are rated for 10,000 hours! (yes - ten thousand hours!)

Tone is rich, full, punchy, and everything you want from a powerful 6L6. Bandwidth fills up the room with full spectrum gain.

If you can find/afford them - get them. Sylvania, RCA...dual halo getters are the way to go!

interesting. I've never heard NOS tubes. What'd you have in your amp before?

Ruby, and before that EH. I loved the EH's and would go back in a heartbeat for daily use. I wanna try some =C='s.

There are some videos with mediocre audio on my Youtube channel (same name as my Jemsite name)
