Pod or V-Amp? Help!

I am thinking about buying an effects box, the choices I have are basically the V-Amp2 and the Line 6 Pod2.

Both have the same number of effects, and the V-amp has double the number of amps to choose from, but the Pod is almost double the price of the V-amp, now I have heard that the Pod has better sound quality, but is it really that much of a difference?

Would you recommand a V-amp or a Pod?

Thank you.

Well, since you said Pod 2.0, I don't really know which is better, but I know if you went for the XT it'd beat most things out there sound-quality wise.

For the price, a V-amp2 is unbeatable...

Can't comment on the V-Amp but having owned a POD 2.0, an original POD Pro, and a POD Xt, I can tell you that the POD Xt is the way I'd go.

The Pod sounds a little better, IMO (and is built better). But the Vamp has some usability features that are cool, and it's still pretty good sounding, and it's a better value. I got one as a backup to my DG Stomp, which is the best of all digital modelers I've played (haven't tried a Pod XT).

Did you know that the Pod 2.0 has twice as many amp models as it shows on the dial?? if you hold the actual "hold" button down, and then move the dial for the amp models, its all different selections. Theres 2 sets although one is kind of hidden like that. It states it in the manual. Anyway, I haven't tried the V-amp but I can say the Pod is a very cool tool to have around!!! I love mine. Buy one used, it's the way to go.

Behringer makes some great, low-cost equipment. I've got some of their rack-mounted outboard gear and one of their larger mixing consoles (MX9000), had a V-amp, had a Pod 2.0, until I played the Genisis3 from digitech. I found it much more authentic than the Pod or Vamp. I A/B'd it with the Pod with a guy I record with and the Genisis3 won hands-down.(for recording tones) Musician's Friend was selling them for $399 and reduced it to $199. you should check it out.

I think the V-amp2 is the way to go. For half the price of the POD it's a better deal. You get a foot switch included, a nice carry case, and the midi software you can download for you pc works great with it.
