Re: POD X3 LIVE vs. POD X3 PRO vs. POD X3( little red circle shaped one)

x3 live is a pedal board so its best for live, pro has more connections and its a rack so its better for recording/studio and the little one is just easy and compact with fewer connections. I believe those are the only differences, just different needs/situations

Edit: also I think the pro can run 2 tones at once for a more diverse sound

Re: POD X3 LIVE vs. POD X3 PRO vs. POD X3( little red circle shaped one)

Hi,
I've got the X3 live - they are basically the same as far as sound is concerned, all of them are like having two pod xt's in one box.

The live has the footcontrol, and the pro sits in a rack, the bean x3 doesn't have midi and you need to use the line6 floorboards or fbv express to control it.

let me know if you want any details on using them.

Cheers
John

You only need use a computer for downloading updates and editing patches.

You can edit patches prett easily on the unit itself.

Live - either use before you amp, or into the effects return and bypass the preamp. (or use it with PA speakers or a power amp and cab.
It has so many input/output options that you can connect it with pretty much anything.

I used to send one set off outputs to my onstage amp and the other pair of outputs straight to the mixing desk rather than micing my amp... worked great.

What amp are you thinking of using?

i have a peavey 212 ultra right now but do certain amps mess up the sound that the pod makes, im thinking about running it through PA speakers, does it work like a regular amp if i run it through pa speakers, how is the sound quality at a high volume gigging situation...sorry bout all the questions i have never used a guitar processor and i am unfamiliar how they work

Hi, Plugging into the normal guitar input doesn' get the best results - the effects return is fine and they have options in the x3 output section to tweak it to match the amp you're plugging into - combo, head, power amp etc.

Nope, you'll need a power amp first. It'll work through your Peavey's FX return, that's how I usually go about with my multifx. It will also work through the PA.

Re: POD X3 LIVE vs. POD X3 PRO vs. POD X3( little red circle shaped one)

From what you said before I replied, I interpreted that you wanted to do it like this:
guitar>pod>cabinet
...and this won't work because nothing will drive the speakers.
So for your Peavey amp, since it DOES have a built-in power amp, it should work this way:
guitar>pod>Peavey fx return

The preamp out is supposedly the effects return's pair if you use the effects loop the way it usually is:
guitar>front end of amp, and then, preamp out>stompbox/fx>effects return, and then, SOUND. Such a setup allows you to use your amp's natural tone and overdrive without having to face problems like bad-sounding mod or echo effects when running them at the front end of your peavey.

Re: POD X3 LIVE vs. POD X3 PRO vs. POD X3( little red circle shaped one)

so I plug the pod and guitar into the fx return in the back instead of using the input in the front?

thanks,
blaise

Re: POD X3 LIVE vs. POD X3 PRO vs. POD X3( little red circle shaped one)

yup, if you'll be using the pod's amp sims. If not, you can use the unit as a standalone effects unit instead with the method i showed you before using the preamp out and the effects return.
