Pro Tools SE quality.

Hey guys,

I going to buy a Avid M audio box,to help to completely avoid the mic jack on my computer, and it comes with Pro Tools SE, just wondering if its any good. If not, i have two other programs to fall back on.

Thanks, Jake.

Re: Pro Tools SE quality.

What could possibly make you think pro tools is not good?
DAWS are just file managements, they have nothing to do with quality.
Just use the one you can work faster.

Only you can tell if something is easy to work or not for you.
To me when talking about pro daws, pro tools is the most simple ever, all basic stuff are in your face, you don't need to read manuals when starting a basic new session.
With cubase a noob without its manual is in hell.

+1 on that! Cubase is a fine program with a bunch of bells and whistles, but reading the manual is a must!

Re: Pro Tools SE quality.

Compared to Adobe Audition or Cakewalk's Sonar Le, which is it most like?

Re: Pro Tools SE quality.

hey, if you talking to me, i can't really answer, but it's free forever unless you need a commercial liscence which is only 40$, real quick download, only about 20 megabytes, try it, it won't hurt!

Re: Pro Tools SE quality.

If it comes bundled with it, use it and see if you like it. There are a myriad of DAW's out there and you have to find the one you're most comfortable with. I personally like Presonus Studio One Pro (very simple to use).

Re: Pro Tools SE quality.

Jimmy, I'll have to check out the presonus...sounds promising, I never heard of that.

I have been using pro tools for years and there are still many things I don't use and will never use. It's as confusing as you make it, just like anything else. There are some minor blurps in the beginning but are easily taken care of with a google search, in case you run into any. Some are very annoying like how to stretch the timeline and then zoom back out! There are other options that are not turned on by default and should be. Overall, it's a great product.
