Question about "AMT Electronics Tube Guitar Series SS-20 Guitar Preamp"

I play through a Marshall JCM800 2004 and am looking for something that will essentially turn it into a multi channel amp. In your opinion, would this pedal do the trick? I would really like something with a range(SRV to Slayer).

Definitely! Plug the SS-20 output in to your effects return on your JCM800, and your guitar in to the input on the SS-20, and yeah, you'll essentially give yourself a 2 channel amp with a boost for the dirty channel.

The SS-20 has the effects loop too, so you aren't losing any of that capability.

The cleans are gorgeous and shimmery, though to slightly dirty. And the dirty channel is extremely capable of hitting your marks (SRV to Slayer) and probably heavier if you want.

Having reviewed some of their products I can absolutely encourage you on the road to an AMT preamp.
It will make a real multi out of your amp.

However if you can I would test different AMTs to find the one you like most. They are all awesome but have different characters. Although the SS-20 is a pretty safe bet overall.

Definitely. I think the SS-20 is just so incredibly versatile.

I wonder how this will sound in front of my Fender Super champ XD, or maybe with a tech 21 power engine?

I played through the effects loop of my Blackstar HT-5, and my Kustom KGA65 (solid state), and it for the most part sounded just the same.
