Re: QUESTION ABOUT BOSS ACA ADAPTOR

Phantom replied to your question still you decided to use it.
So why asking if you'll do what you want and not what people reply?
Never crossed your mind going to Boss website and search your answers there?
I bet Boss knows more about their own stuff than anyone here.

Re: QUESTION ABOUT BOSS ACA ADAPTOR

I just did a google search (as you would have been best to do before trying this). ACA adapters are unregulated, and originally were 12V supplies that had to be controlled to 9V in the pedal. There may be some ACA 9V adapters, but I think they are still unregulated.

PSA pedals are supposed to use the PSA compatible regulated 9V supplies. The pedals don't have the inbuilt protection that ACA pedals had. Running an ACA supply into a PSA pedal risks overloading the circuit, killing the pedal. You are lucky you used a 9V ACA, but I wouldn't keep doing that.

Re: QUESTION ABOUT BOSS ACA ADAPTOR

Since the ACA adapters are unregulated the voltage is dependent on the load.
If you plug the 9 volt ACA adapter into a pedal that "wants" a 9volt PSA adapter
and the pedal draws little current like the BOSS Turbo Distortion (12 mA) the ACA adapter
will put out something like 12-13 volt.If you are unlucky some part in the pedal canīt
handle that voltage and it will break down.
