Randall RH150 G3 effects loop

Hey!

My bandmate has a Randall RH150 G3 head, and it seems we're having some trouble with the effects loop. We've put a tc electronic mojo mojo in the effects loop for solo boosting and it introduces a whistling noise. Also when we've put my isp decimator g string in the effects loop it had and extra whistleing noise when the decimator was turned off. I have an extra little hum with my valveking when the g string is introduced and the isp guys wrote it has something to do with the effects loop. Any suggestions?

Re: Randall RH150 G3 effects loop

almost sounds like a grounding issue. did you double check to make sure you are using instrument cables in the FX loop, and not speaker cables ?

It is also possible the FX loop jack has lost it's ground, or has a cold solder joint.

Have you tried non distortion/boosting pedals like a chorus or something like that ?

does it have send/receive level controls?

I saw a similar post over on sevenstring.org . They got a whistle just plugging straight in to the amp though. Could be a similar issue.

Re: Randall RH150 G3 effects loop

We've tried another overdrive pedal in the loop for solo boosting and it dod not have this problem, I don't get it why does it have it with the mojo mojo and the decimator. The amp does have level controls for the FX loop, and yes we did use instrument cables.
