Recording Bass

For a while now I've been using a POD XT for quick 'n' dirty guitar tracks, and I'm looking for something similar for a 5 string bass.

Despite the limitations of USB, I'm keen on the simplicity of it, so I'd like to stick with that method if possible, so the POD Bass XT looks to be the obvious choice. Anyone used one? Comments on it? Alternatives?

Cheers.

Re: Recording Bass

Did you try using your POD on the bass? I like my V-Amp and DG Stomp on it just fine. But then IMO bass isn't that big a deal unless it's in the forefront of your sound, like say, Billy Sheehan.

Re: Recording Bass

Yep, and it seems to work OK, but a dedicated Bass one is better, surely?

Re: Recording Bass

Well, it would have more different sounds that work well, but if you like what you have now... Definitely try before laying out the cash.

Re: Recording Bass

I should add that there is a more serious point - things like compression on the guitar XT don't hold up too well with a bass, so I need something bass specific.

Re: Recording Bass

That's a good point. Those kind of settings are more instrument specific. So, go ahead! You only live once...

Re: Recording Bass

So, back to my original question - anyone used one, or have alternative suggestions?
