Slow down the music...

What free computer programs are available for download that will slow down music from cds or mp3s and not change the pitch...I know winamp has a plug in but I don't use winamp...any others? Thanks.

Excellent piece of software, though it's 'shareware' rather than free. Well worth it though.

Sonique mp3 player can slow to half speed. http://sonique.lycos.com/

There's a program called 'the amazing slowdowner' (http://www.ronimusic.com/slowdown.htm ) that slows to half-speed, then speeds it up to regular pitch, while staying at half speed. Gotta pay a little bit for that one though.

Correction: only Windows Media Player 9 can do it. Previous versions can't. See View\Enhancements\Play Speed Settings menu.

Correct, it is version 9, but only for XP. I run both XP and 2000 and the speed settings are not available in the 2000 version.

thanks guys....downloaded version 9 of windows media player for xp...works fine. sound quality isnt as good as real one player but im just going to use it for figuring out those fast lines...thanks again!

just a tip...for listening to music on your comp i highly suggest downloading real one player and SLIGHTLY boosting the bass and treble freq. in the eq and ever so slightly (less than the bass and treb) raising the mids. Sounds better than any player i've ever heard (winamp, windows media player etc..).
