Here is a song I recorded with a Jem + Boss OD-1(I think) + Soldano Hot Rod 50XL through a Soldano 4x12. There are no leads in it but you can get an Idea of a rhythm tone that can be had with Soldano.

One of my favorite tones I have achived while recording.

Hmm... Something sounds... odd about the bass frequencies there. Room mic'ing, perhaps? or maybe it's the reverb? it's got this interesting almost lo-fi vibe to it. I think i like it thought. Yeah...

Anyway, i wanna hear this stuff with the vocals when you get it done- cool groove

I really like the sound ! ! !
If I didn't have all Mesa gear already, either VHT or Soldano would be my other choices. I plyed a SLO-100 head at a guitar show and it just sounded awesome, the guy cranked it up for me while I was playing and I was amazed at the punch it had !

Great amps and you can mod the heck out of them !

Getting my Soldano HR50XL in a couple of days. I will let you know what I think about it after playing with it for a while.

If I remember right the cab was close miked with a SM57 at a moderately low volume. The room I recorded in wasnt the greatest but I was diggin' the sound out of the amp. I think most of that tone came from the Soldano 4x12. I really didn't seem to matter what I put through those 4x12s, they always sounded the same. I miss those cabs. They were so "raw" sounding.
Another plus about Soldano is there customer service is outstanding. For example:
The effects loops are odd. You can't really run effects like Boss pedals through them. There is some sort of buffer on the loop. I called up there tech support and they told me how to mod it so it would work with smaller effects like stomp boxes or I could just ship it to them and they would mod it for me and all I had to pay for was the shipping to them. All this and the Hot Rod 50 I had was bought used. I had no warranty or anything. They seem to take alot of pride in there amps.
Also, Soldanos truely go to "11"!

"raw" is a good word for the tone. Might need to look into that some day...
