I've been playing with the Soldano SLO100 and its just my all-time favorite tone. The problem is that I don't want to spend $3,000 on one. The "Designed by Soldano" knock offs by Yamaha and other smaller name companies haven't impressed me much.

Does anyone know of any way I can get that sound without breaking the bank? From what I know of Soldano's history, he started out hot-rodding Marshalls for Warren DeMartini and others. If that's the case, shouldn't I be able to get an SLO100 sound out of a Marshall?

All help appreciated...heck you'll be saving me $3,000 lol.

Just Google "SLO Clone" and you'll see plenty of options.

Isn't the 5101 (now 6505) a Soldano-ish amp, as it was modelled on Eddie's Soldano modded Marshall?

You might even want to try a Bugera 5150/6505 copy (IE the 6262) They also do a JSX copy (the 333) although the MIC bit may put you off.
Lastly, there is the Ibanez Thermion, which is supposed to do a hot version of the brown sound quite well and sounds somewhat like the 5150 on the clean channel too.

Soldano HR-50. It is a one channel amp... the dirty channel of the SLO.

Thanks for all your suggestions, dudes. Here are my thoughts on them...

HR-50 (and 50+) is, indeed, quite a bad ass amp and it does get pretty close to the SLO, but when you actually compare them the SLO still blows the HR50 out of the water. Its like Fajitas and a Porterhouse. Fajitas are great, but if you've got both in front of you and take a bite of each, you're going for the Porterhouse

The Jet City sounds absolutely nothing by Soldano and, to me, sounds like junk.

The Peavey 5150 (now 6505) is to an SLO100 what an Epiphone Les Paul is to a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. I also found the Peavey to be a bit too sizzly with a lot of shrill. It seems that they tried to capture the sizzle of the SLO's overdrive, but didn't quite get it right and actually went overboard with it.

I looked up the SLO Clones and found the Weber Heather to be a pretty decent option. The guts look good, but the chassis looks like crap. C3 Amps looks great, but I'm not sure the guts are as good as the Weber. The Weber will have you around $1150 out of pocket shipped. The SLO can't be had for less than $2800. So this is a viable option that I am seriously considering.

The SLO setting called "US Hi-Gain" on the Toneworks Pandora sounds pretty sweet and its what I use for now when I'm jamming late at night

hmm did you try the axe-fx it does have the slo100 sim and the x99 or try to find a used Soldano Avenger it does have the same overdrive tone of the slo100

Other than that, the Soldano Avenger is your best bet.
The HR 50 is not the SLO circuit, the Avenger is.

I've been playing a ton with the Soldano SLO model on my POD X3 and while I can't say it sounds anything like the real thing, I think it sounds pretty sweet. You can get POD X3's for really cheap if you get the bean-shaped one. It makes me want the real thing really badly

to be honest, the models on the digitech RP500 - 1000, sound really convincing to the SLO100, seriously, ya gotta try it, these latest digitech processors are tons better than the status they built, these side by side- sound just as good or even better than the boss gt-10, really (i tried)!!!
