soldano users - please post

Just wondering if the soldano users out there could post what soldano amp/amps they have. I'll start - I have a Soldano SLO100 which I bought new in August of 2005. It has been my dream amp since. Before buying it, I went through many preamps(ADA, ART, etc), tube heads (mostly Marshall) , and solid state rigs. My only other amp is a Crate G60xl for playing around the house at very quiet volumes.

I'm really into George Lynch, Paul Gilbert, Warren Demartini, EVH........basically, I'm an 80's rock hair metal guy. My cover band does some classic rock (Crue, Hagar, Journey) through modern type stuff, from Avenged sevenfold to Maroon 5.

My favorite Soldano tone and player is Warren DeMartini. I loved the tone he had on Detonator!

I have a clone of the X88. I can't say how similar it is in sound, but the clean tone is not there, crunch and distorted sounds are awesome. Rather limited, to me, but I really like it for the stuff it sounds good.

Sold the SLO100 and now have three Jet City Amps. Couldn't hear the $3000 difference between the SLO100 and the JCA100H.

Hi, that's basically what I'm into. 80's Hair Metal, when you grow up with that kind of sound it's hard to like anything else..lolol.

Could you possibly give me a tip or 2 regarding your tone setting for getting some lynch tones?

I'd really appreciate that,
Nelson

Speakers and tubes always make the difference in sound and feeling. I second that, too overpriced amp. Anyway, can't forget Gary moore with his 2 SLO100...

Re: soldano users - please post

soldano = not overpriced.... very expensive.....yes. Maybe not necessarily for everyone, but I was hoping to hear from those who are into that amazing soldano tone!

Re: soldano users - please post

Ever since I saw a photo of Eddie Van Halen's SLO with the settings marked in black marker in Guitar World, I have left my amp set like that. Eddies settings were (from what I could make out clearly for most of the knobs) overdrive: 6 or 7, bass:8 , treble:4, mids: 3, What is really important is that the eq knobs on a Soldano are just a bit different in their overall response than other amps, so you have to approach them a little differently.

Re: soldano users - please post

Not a Soldano user, but the HR50 is the only amp I've ever played where I plugged in and thought, Wow!

Seriously gassing for any Soldano, but not really able to afford at the moment.
