what makes a speaker in a combo for guitar diff then any other speakers? i have a crap amp a squier champ 15 and i just got a wierd idea to put a compition mtx(bass car speaker) in it....

Different speakers are made to handle differrent frequencies, and different wattage.
If your going to replace the speaker (probably not worth it) I would check out guitar speaker manufacturers, rather than speakers designed for other uses.

If you want to upgrade your amp look in buy/sell magazines, ebay, loot (if your in england) as you can usually pick up an ok amp for really cheap. Good enough to practice with. I managed to get an H|H electronic (now no longer in production, Laney bought the last of their equipment) 100W solid state amp for 70 (about $100-120) which is great for practicing, but can also crank up pretty loud.

i dont know why but this mtx sub makes the amp actually sound alot better....its like its a newer higher quality combo now...i know the speaker is alot better than that cheap paper bs that was in it before...i havent gotten to crank it too loud though since i live in an apartment...but it sounds alot warmer less distrotion...hope it dont blow the amp
