Super Chorus or Chorus Ensemble?

I want a chorus sound like Vai has in the song "Boston Rain Melody" and also the chorus sound Paul Gilbert has in the intro of "Godzilla" (actually a Racer X tune I guess.) Paul uses a slight overdrive in the intro to Godzilla, but I want to know how to get the chorus type sound. Super Chorus and Chorus Ensemble are both Boss pedals, but if you have any other suggestions, please let me know!

I think PG uses the Boss CH-1. I have been looking for a chorus pedal, too. I think I will try them out. I want a very lush one.

The chorus on my zoom multi-effect is really similar to the Metallica Enter Sandman intro...unfortunately, that's not what I'm looking for!

I'm not familier with the chorus sounds on those tunes, but I bought a chorus ensemble (ce-5) and I much perfer it over the super chorus. They're pretty much the same exact price most places and have the same controls except that the chorus ensemble has a two band hi and lo band eq that allows you to boost or cut either frequency seperately, while the super chorus just has a knob that you tilt either towards more bass or more treble. Hope this helps.

Man, that's what I'm looking for. And I've got it in my Line6 Flextone II, just took some tweaking. I've got the Metallica's Black Album/Creed's My Own Prison -ish clean tone down, but a little different to suit my tastes. I use the Modern Class A setting instead of one of the "real" clean amps, cuz I find it's a bit warmer and less dead-sounding and dry.

If you want lush chorus, I'd steer you towards an analog pedal...one with a true bypass.

I have a voodoo lab analog chorus and it is simply glorious, very thick...lots of depth to the chorus. Goes from subtle to a quasi leslie effect. Very good pedal. I tried all the boss pedals, much too sterile for me and they aren't true bypass, not even close by comparison.

Gotta agree w/ Gresh. I've got a CE-20 and like it, but my first choice is my Ibanez Prime Dual Chorus (PC-10, long OOP), an analog pedal w/ seperate Chorus and Flanger sections.

Do you know where I can get one of those Voodoo Labs for cheap? MF has them for $170, which I'm not really willing to spend for a chorus pedal.

You should be able to do better than $170 if you shop around. I get pretty good deals at Guitar Center and I got mine there for around $130. I buy lots of stuff from them so they hook me up when they can.

That being said, analog pedals will cost more than your run of the mill digital stuff, so don't expect them to be cheap.

If you want the best chorus sound ever check out the t.c. electronics 1210. It is a rack unit and is basicaly a very easy unit to use . All you have to do is turn the knobs. It is a bit pricey though . Especially if you are looking at pedal prices. I bought one used for 700 and must say it is the thickest and lushest chorus ever made peiod. Thgat is a fact not a opinion.
