whatever happened to that Mark-IV? Looking to get rid of it? If i dumped my head/cab, i might just be able to pull the cash together, depending on what you're asking...
The Mark IV went down the road about a month ago. It was the third one that I'd had, but I just couldn't quite make myself love it. GREAT cleans, good rhythm, but the lead tones just didn't "breathe" enough. Too nasally for my taste. It had to go to make room for the Bogner (literally...I was out of floor space!)
really? Hmm. i have yet to run into an amp that even approaches the Mark-IV for lead, for what I'm looking for... it's just got this phenominaly liquid, smooth, compressed voice, yet it's so three-dimentional that you almost "see" the tones as much as hear them, once that poweramp warms up a little. Strangely enough, it was the rhythm sounds I was having a hard time dialing in (course, i was also hitting the thing with a low B).
This is all personal, of course... As a reference point, JP's G3 tone was about the best lead sound I've ever heard.
I'd used a few Mark IVs over the years, and for some applications, it was definitely the right amp. But, I've just become less and less fond of the compressed Mesa tone overall. They're great amps, but just not what I like personally at this time. The Stilettos are terrific though, and I'll probably end up picking one up eventually. I'm definitely into a more "vintage" sound right now. Warmer, chewier overdrives and a Class A-type of clean. The Mark IV was a great little Swiss Army knife of an amp though. I haven't even tried the 2027X through the Bogner yet.. One of these days...
Ibanez UV7BK with dimarzio blaze custom bridge pup
Ibanez RG7421 (black) with white evolution bridge pup and white blaze neck pup and all hardware replaced and white knobs.
Dimebag Darrell wah
Digitech whammy (latest model)
Line 6 AM4 Amp Modeler
Boss TU2 tuner
Boss Flanger
Boss RV5 Delay/Reverb
And then it goes into any power amp or power amp section of any combo, because there's no need for a bigass guitar amp for me at this moment.....
I might buy a marshall tsl someday, or a power amp of my own.

Lo people
New to the board although ive always looked in on whats happenin.
Finally got my new amp.
nuthin to exciting in my setup..use a digitech GNX..bad horsie pedal..little alligator..whammy pedal..er..few other bits n pieces..
also have original Ibanez saber.
This will make you grin then...
the BFP cost me around $1000 and the only mark on it is a small laquer crack/ding on the back above the grip. That is cheap over here in the UK.
the stack cost around $1200 wich also cheap as we dont have the luxury of direct order to carvin .
A new legacy here in the Uk costs $1370..so i think i got a good deal
I play a Kramer Striker and Ibanez RG470 and Jackson Rhoads through an ENGL Thunder 50 through an Ibanez TS10, and soon to be Ibanez Weeping Demon, sounds bloomin fantastic, less is more, peeps
I've changed my rig quite a bit lately, and have settled on my current for the time being (in other words, until I get my Legacy)
The guitars I use mainly are:
Ibanez Jem77FP ('89) - Main (Tuned a full step down) Epiphone Les Paul Studio 100 - Tuned 2 full steps down (to C) for heavier songs. Various Backups Charvel, Washburn BT10 (Tuned down a full step with drop C), and a wolfgang tuned to standard.
Now my current rig is a Peavey Bandit (Transtube) 112, 100 watt amp. I have a Line 6 POD (2.3) for EQ, reverb and Effects, an Ibanez delay pedal (to stagger delay with POD) and a BOSS noise gate half-rack.
It's an excellent tone and my floor board is massive (Line 6 Floorboard, Peavey channel selector, crybaby wah, BOSS CE-5 Chorus Ensemble)
But I have a feeling that when I get my Legacy half stack, my tone will be 100% better.
Nothing really new to add here, I just wanted to show off what my mom got me for my b-day some weeks ago. She had the stand made to my specs, so now I have my guitars at hand. It's really cool because with every guitar in its case, often I would be lazy and not really play. Now I just store this thing in the closet (it has wheels) and when I want to play, I just roll them all out at once
