Tone Help!

My rhythm tone is all set, almost like a Petrucci tone, but a little more middy and less bass. But my lead tone is a bit bland, right now in my signal its:

Guitar> Zakk Wylde Wah> MXR ZW Overdrive> Stock Boss-DS-1> Peavy VTM 60 through a Carvin Legacy Cabinet with Vintage 30s.

The guitar as of now is a GRG170DX, but I'll be picking up my RG20th tomorrow .

The Amp settings are at 7 bass, 4-5 Mids, 4-5 Treble. Presence 1. I use the only the DS-1 when i do lead work, no OD. I'm wondering if i should get a DD-3 to make my lead tone fatter. I'm kinda going for a tone that is kinda like this:

I know that its his equipment, but I want to get that certain ambiance.

Re: Tone Help!

I'd suggest a delay pedal at the end of the chain, or in your effects loop to give the sound a bit of "space" - you don't need a lot of effects level, just enough to add a bit of "stadium" to your lead tone. Try 500ms or so, just enough feedback to get couple of delays, and as I said before, keep the balance pretty low.
